Recognizing the A3000/4000/5000 with the TWE (Tiny Wave Editor) Application in Windows XP
If the TWE 'File' menu is grayed-out when using the Yamaha 'TWE' (Tiny Wave Editor) to edit, import, or export samples via a SCSI interface it is an indication that application is not recognizing the SCSI interface. The TWE application was written to look for a specific ASPI (Application Specific Protocol Interface) driver from Adaptec in order to communicate with the SCSI card. Windows XP, however, does not come with an ASPI driver. If the SCSI card being used is not an Adaptec (which comes with the driver), the Adaptec ASPI driver must be loaded into Windows XP manually. Once this has been done, the File menu will no longer be grayed out.The Adaptec ASPI driver may be downloaded from www.adaptec.com.
