The SY85 came out before the .wav file format for samples was the standard. All referrences in the Owner's Manual to the word "wave" refer to samples that have been loaded into the SY85 via MIDI Sample Dump. Samples on floppy disk would also have to be originated from a MIDI Sample Dump. Because of this, regular .wav files on a floppy disk cannot be loaded into the SY85.
