Turning Off the Effects
When the power is first turned on the instrument sounds (Voices) will all have one or more effects turned on. The piano, for example has a noticeable reverb effect. One or more of the effects mentioned below may already be off by default, depending on the Voice. To turn any or all of the effects off:

Press the [FUNCTION] button.
NOTE: The 'Category' and 'Select' buttons are to the left and right of the Data Dial, respectively.
Press the 'Category' [ v ] (down) button repeatedly, until the screen displays <EFFECT>. When the button is released, the display will change to <REVERB>.
Press the [--/NO] button repeatedly until the screen displays <Off/9>.
Press the 'Select' [ v ] (down) button once, the screen should display <CHORUS>.
Press the [--/NO] button repeatedly until the screen displays <Off/5>.
Press the 'Select' [ v ] (down) button once, the screen should display <DSP>.
Press the [--/NO] button repeatedly until the screen displays <Off/39>.
Press the [VOICE] button to return to the main Voice display.
