Transpose, Note Shift and Tuning on an S90

The Pitch can be transposed for the entire unit (with or without drums being effected) or individually for each Part in a Performance. In addition, the pitch of individual elements within the voice can be tuned. While the following procedures do not directly address Sequence Play or Voice mode operations, many of the concepts used here apply to those modes as well. Transpose: Global for the internal sounds and out via MIDI by half steps.

1) Press the [UTILITY] button.

2) Press the [F1] button.

3) Press the [SF2] button.

4) Cursor down to 'TRANSPOSE'.

5) Turn the (Data Dial) to transpose the pitch from -11 to +11 semitones (half-steps).

NOTE: Changes made in the Utility mode are automatically stored in the Utility memory when exiting the Utility mode.

Octave Transpose: global for the internal sounds and out via MIDI by octaves, drums will remain at normal pitch.

1) Press the [UTILITY] button.

2) Press the [F1] button.

3) Press the [SF2] button.

4) Cursor to 'OCTAVE'.

5) Turn the (Data Dial) to transpose the pitch from -3 to +3 octaves.

NOTE: Changes made in the Utility mode are automatically stored in the Utility memory when exiting the Utility mode.

Note Shift: For the internal sounds only by half steps, drums will be pitched higher or lower.

1) Press the [UTILITY] button.

2) Press the [F1] button.

3) Press the [SF1] button.

4) Cursor down to 'NOTE SHIFT'.

5) Turn the (Data Dial) to transpose the pitch from -24 to +24 semitones (half-steps).

NOTE: Changes made in the Utility mode are automatically stored in the Utility memory when exiting the Utility mode.

Master Tune Adjust: For the internal sounds only, drums will be pitched higher or lower.

1) Press the [UTILITY] button.

2) Press the [F1] button.

3) Press the [SF1] button.

4) Cursor down to 'TUNE'.

5) Turn the (Data Dial) to adjust the pitch from -102.4 to +102.3 (up or down ½ step).

NOTE: Changes made in the Utility mode are automatically stored in the Utility memory when exiting the Utility mode.

Using Note Shift on an Individual Voice with in a Performance: For the internal sounds only, the actual drum note assignments will change creating unusual drum combinations.


1) Press the [PERFORM] button and select a Performance.

2) Press the [EDIT] button.

3) Press the Part [1] - [4] button.

4) Press the press the [F4] button.

5) Press the press the [SF1] button.

6) Cursor to Note Shift.

7) Turn the (Data Dial) to shift the Individual Part pitch from -24 to +24 semitones (half-steps).

NOTE: To keep this setting, the Performance must be stored to memory.

Detune an Individual Voice within a Performance: For the internal sounds only, drums will be pitched higher or lower.

1) Press the [PERFORM] button and select a Performance.

2) Press the [EDIT] button.

3) Press the Part [1] - [4] button.

4) Press the press the [F4] button.

5) Press the press the [SF1] button.

6) Cursor to Detune.

7) Turn the (Data Dial) to shift the individual Voice pitch from -12.8 to +12.7 (up or down approximately ¼ tone).

NOTE: To keep this setting, the Performance must be stored to memory.

Coarse Tuning an Element within an Individual Voice: For the internal sounds only. Press the [Voice] button and select a Performance.

1) Press the [EDIT] button.

2) Press the Element [1] - [4] button.

3) Press the press the [F2] button.

4) Press the press the [SF1] button.

5) Cursor to Coarse.

6) Turn the (Data Dial) to shift the individual Voice pitch from -48 to +47 semitones (4 octaves).

NOTE: To keep this setting, the Voice must be stored to memory.

Fine Tuning an Element within an Individual Voice: For the internal sounds only.

1) Press the [Voice] button and select a Performance.

2) Press the [EDIT] button.

3) Press the Element [1] - [4] button.

4) Press the press the [F2] button.

5) Press the press the [SF1] button.

6) Cursor to Fine.

7) Turn the (Data Dial) to shift the individual Voice pitch from -64 to +63 (up or down 1 semitone).

NOTE: To keep this setting, the Voice must be stored to memory.
