Disabling/Re-enabling the Yamaha CBX Driver(s) in Windows 95/98/ME

Disabling the Yamaha CBX Driver(s):
  1. Click the <Start> button from the Windows task bar.
  2. Select 'Settings'.
  3. Select 'Control Panel'.
  4. Double-click the 'YAMAHA CBX Driver' icon in the 'Control Panel' window. The 'YAMAHA CBX Driver Setup' dialog box will appear.
  5. To disable all CBX drivers, select the 'Driver Disable' check box in the 'Other Setting' group. The COM ports in the 'COM Port Setting' group will appear greyed-out.
    NOTE: By selecting the 'Driver Disable' box, the Yamaha CBX Driver(s) will only become inoperative but will not be removed from Windows.
  6. Reboot the computer for the new Yamaha CBX Driver settings to take effect.

Re-enabling the Yamaha CBX Driver(s):
NOTE: When 'Driver Disable' is selected in the 'YAMAHA CBX Driver Setup' dialog box, the icon for the 'YAMAHA CBX Driver Setup' will be removed from the Window's Control Panel display when the PC is rebooted. The driver(s) can still be re-enabled via the Windows 'Control Panel'.
  1. Open Windows 'Control Panel' (see Steps 1 - 3 in the preceding procedure).
  2. Double-click the 'Multimedia' icon (Windows 95/98) or the 'Sounds and Multimedia' (Windows ME).
  3. Click the 'Advanced' (Windows 95) or the 'Devices' tab (Windows 98/ME).
  4. Double-click 'MIDI Devices and Instruments' in the 'Multimedia devices' list box.
  5. Select the 'YAMAHA CBX A Driver' from the 'MIDI Devices and Instruments' list.
  6. Click the <Properties> button to open the 'YAMAHA CBX A Driver Properties' dialog box.
  7. Select the 'Use MIDI features on this device' radio button in the 'General' tab page.
  8. Click the <Settings> button. The 'YAMAHA CBX Driver Setup' dialog box will appear.
  9. Clear the 'Driver Disable' check box.
    NOTE: When the 'Driver Disable' check box is cleared, the COM ports in the 'COM Port Setting' group will no longer appear greyed-out and inactive.
  10. Reboot the computer for the new Yamaha CBX Driver settings to take effect.
    NOTE: When the Yamaha CBX Driver has been re-enabled, the 'YAMAHA CBX Driver' icon will appear in the Windows 'Control Panel' window.
