Connecting an external processor into the Insert of an 02R analog input
I/O Specifications:
-
The first (8) analog input channels (Mic/Line 1 - 8) are equipped with Inserts. Each insert can send and receive an unbalanced analog signal to and from an external processor.
The 'Send' signal is tapped at the post head-amp point.
The 'Return' reconnects at the pre ADC (Analog to Digital Converter) point in the audio circuit.
The Nominal input level is +0dB(0.775mV).
The Max before clipping level is +20dB(7.75V).
Insert Jack and Cable Configurations:
-
The Insert connector is a female 1/4'' TRS (Tip-Ring-Sleeve) Phono jack.
The Insert cable must be a ''Y'' or ''Splitter'' type.
Joined end: 1/4'' Male TRS Phono plug.
Send plug: (Determined by the external processor jack type) The audio ''Hot'' conductor connects to the Tip of the TRS plug.
Return plug: (Determined by the external processor jack type) The audio ''Hot'' conductor connects to the the Ring of the TRS plug.
NOTE: The required cable is available from most Yamaha Pro Audio dealers.
-
Connect the TRS end of the ''Y'' or ''Splitter'' cable into the 02R input channel Insert jack.
Connect the audio connector designated as the 'Send' to the Input of the external processor.
Connect the audio connector designated as the 'Return' to the Output of the external processor.
TIP: Pay close attention to input levels at all stages in the Insert audio path. The 02R Peak/Signal indicators will only reflect the incoming source signal of the actual input channel and NOT the source signal returning from the external processor.
