Digital Mixers

Connecting a DAT to digital inputs 2TRD1 or 2TRD2 of an 02R

Since most DAT recorders operate in ''master clock'' mode when playing back, the 02R must be word clock ''slaved'' to the incoming DAT signal. Once the DAT is connected to 2TRD1 or 2TRD2 and turned on, a viable digital signal will appear at 2TRD1 or 2TRD2, and the 02R can be ''slaved'' to that input. Once the 02R is slaved to the DAT input, the 02R will then permit the routing of that input to stereo input channels.
  1. Connect the DAT to one of the 2-track digital inputs of the 02R. If the output of the DAT is in the AES/EBU format (using a 3-terminal XLR-type connector), connect it to input 2TRD1, the 02R's AES/EBU input. If the output of the DAT is in the S/PDIF format (using an RCA-type ''phono'' connector), connect it to 2TRD2, the 02R's S/PDIF input.
  2. Turn the DAT recorder on.
  3. Press the [DIGITAL I/O] button repeatedly until Page 1/5 ''Word Clock Select'' is visible. Use the cursor buttons to highlight the 2TRK input that the DAT is connected to. Press [ENTER]. The selected box should have a dark background and light text. The bottom left corner should display the source clock frequency (48kHz or 44.1kHz).
  4. Press the [DIGITAL I/O] button for Page 2/5 ''Input Signal Select''. Use the cursor buttons to highlight the ''2TR-IN D1'' box if the DAT is connected to input 2TRD1, or the ''2TR-IN D2'' box if the DAT is connected to input 2TRD2. Press [ENTER]. The selected box should have a dark background and light text.
  5. If the DAT is connected to input 2TRD1, the DAT signal will appear in inputs 17 and 18 of the 02R. If the DAT is connected to input 2TRD2, the DAT signal will appear in inputs 19 and 20.

NOTE: Once this system is configured, inputs 2TRD1 or 2TRD2 may also be routed to the Control Room Output. Simply go to the Control Room panel and select the input that is receiving the DAT signal (2TRD1 or 2TRD2).
