Digital Mixers

Digital noise when connecting a PROMIX01 to the 02R Digital Input 2TRD2

The 02R and the PROMIX01 are each synchronized, or ''locked'', to different word clock references. For proper, noise-free operation, they need to be locked to the same clock reference. Typically, one of the units (either the PROMIX01 or the 02R) will provide the clock reference, serving as ''word clock master'', the other unit then is locked to that reference, acting as ''word clock slave''.

The Promix01 cannot lock to another clock reference. In other words, it always serves as word clock master. The 02R, then, must be set as a word clock slave. To do this, the 02R is set to lock to the Promix01 clock coming in the 2TRD2 input, where the Promix01 is connected.
  1. Connect the PROMIX01 to 2-track digital input ''2TRD2'' of the 02R. The digital output of the PROMIX01 is in the S/PDIF format (using an RCA-type ''phono'' connector).
  2. Turn on the PROMIX01.
  3. Press the [DIGITAL I/O] button repeatedly until Page 1/5 ''Word Clock Select'' is visible. Use the cursor buttons to highlight the box labeled ''2TRD2''.
  4. Press [ENTER].

NOTE: The 2TRD2 box should have a dark background and light text. The box in the bottom left corner should display the PROMIX01 clock frequency (48kHz).

  1. Press the [DIGITAL I/O] button for Page 2/5 ''Input Signal Select''.
  2. Use the cursor buttons to highlight the ''2TR-IN D2''.
  3. Press [ENTER].

NOTE: The 2TRD2 box should have a dark background and light text.

  4. The PROMIX01 signal will now appear in inputs 19 and 20 of the 02R.

NOTE: Once this system is configured, the PROMIX01output may also be routed to the Control Room Output of the 02R. Simply go to the Control Room panel and select the 2TRD2 input.
