Samplers
Compatible Hard Drives, Zip Drives, and Expansion Memory
This information applies to the A4000 and A5000.
The A4000 and A5000 have storage options and memory expansion options to enhance performance and functionality. An internal hard drive (IDE or SCSI) or ATAPI Zip drive can be installed to increase storage capacity. Sample memory can be increased by installing commercially available SIMMs. All optional memory and storage devices must conform to the following specifications:

- Interface - 50-pin SCSI, or 40-pin EIDE

- Power supply - +5V, 0.8A
- Interface - 40-pin ATAPI

|
| Expansion Memory |
- Type - 72-pin SIMM modules (requires identical size if used in pairs)
- Bit Width - x32 bit (no parity) or x36 bit (parity)
- Size - 4MB, 8MB, 16MB, or 32MB

NOTE: Since the listed hard drives were tested, many of the models have been discontinued; however, most current IDE or SCSI hard drives should be compatible. Many external SCSI versions of these drives should also be compatible. An A4000 can format and utilize a maximum of 8GB, even if the hard drive itself has a capacity greater than 8GB.
