Using the Orchestration Buttons on a PSR510

The Orchestration buttons on the PSR510 allow for the selection of one to four Orchestration Parts that can be played individually, or simultaneously. When using the four 'ORCHESTRATION' control buttons, Parts can be arranged in Single, Dual, Split, and Split/Dual modes with a different Voice assigned to each of the Orchestration Parts. The Volume, Octave, DSP depth, and Pan values for each Part can be configured to achieve a desired result.

Selecting an Orchestration Mode:

1) Press any of the [L1], [L2], [R1], [R2] buttons in the 'ORCHESTRATION' group to achieve the desired Orchestration mode. (Refer to the chart below)

Single

One Voice over the entire keyboard.

Dual

Two Voices simultaneously over the entire keyboard.  Note: To activate Dual mode both buttons MUST be pressed simultaneously.

Keyboard is split so that different Voices are assigned to the right and left hand.

Assigning a Voice to an Orchestration Part:

NOTE: Any of the PSR510's 128 Voices can be assigned to each of the Orchestration Parts whether the Part is ON or OFF.
    1) Press the [EDIT] button in the 'ORCHESTRATION' group to select the desired Part to which a Voice will be assigned.
NOTE: The indicator arrows next to each of the four 'ORCHESTRATION' control buttons will light in sequence in the clockwise direction each time the [EDIT] button is pressed.
    2) Use the [+] and [-] buttons, the Data Dial, or the [VOICE SELECT] button to select the number for the desired Voice.
NOTE: Refer to the 'VOICE' list printed on the PSR510's front panel.

Adjusting the Volume of an Orchestration Part:

NOTE: The volume for an Orchestration Part can be set up to create a balance between Parts.
    1) Press the [EDIT] button in the 'ORCHESTRATION' group to select the desired Part to be edited.

    2) Press the [VOL] button in the 'VOICE' control section group to display the current Volume level in the 'MULTI DISPLAY'.

    NOTE: The Volume indicated on the 'MULTI DISPLAY' can range from a value of '00' (no sound) to the maximum level of '24'.

    3) Use the [+] and [-] buttons, the Data Dial, or the [VOL] button to set the desired Volume.
NOTE: The default value of '21' can be recalled by pressing both the [+] and [-] buttons at the same time.

Shifting the Octave of an Orchestration Part:

NOTE: The Octave for each Orchestration Part can be shifted up or down by as many as two Octaves.
    1) Press the [EDIT] button in the 'ORCHESTRATION' group to select the desired Part to be edited.

    2) Press the [OCTAVE] button in the 'VOICE' control section to display the current Octave value in the 'MULTI DISPLAY'.

    3) Use the [+] and [-] buttons, the Data Dial, or the [OCTAVE] button to set the desired Octave for a selected Orchestration Part.
NOTE: The Octave range is from '-2' (down two Octaves) to '+2' (up two Octaves). The default Octave value for a selected Voice can be accessed by pressing the [+] and [-] buttons at the same time.

Setting the DSP Depth of an Orchestration Part:
    1) Press the [EDIT] button in the 'ORCHESTRATION' group to select the desired Part to be edited.

    2) Press the [DSP DEPTH] button in the 'VOICE' control section to display the current DSP value in the 'MULTI DISPLAY'.

    3) Use the [+] and [-] buttons, the Data Dial, or the [DSP DEPTH] button to set the desired DSP depth value for a selected Orchestration Part.
NOTE: The DSP depth range is from '00' (no effect) to '15' (maximum effect). The default DSP depth value of '06' for a selected Voice can be accessed by pressing the [+] and [-] buttons at the same time.

Setting the Pan Position of an Orchestration Part:
    1) Press the [EDIT] button in the 'ORCHESTRATION' group to select the desired Part to be edited.

    2) Press the [PAN] button in the 'VOICE' control section to display the current Pan value in the 'MULTI DISPLAY'.

    3) Use the [+] and [-] buttons, the Data Dial, or the [PAN] button to set the desired Pan value for a selected Orchestration Part.
NOTE: The Pan range is from '-7' (full left) to '+7' (full right). The default Pan value '0' (center) for a selected Voice Part can be accessed by pressing the [+] and [-] buttons at the same time.
