Using the Guitar Tuner on a DG STOMP

The Yamaha DG STOMP includes a built-in chromatic guitar tuner. The tuner can be set to ''true'' pitch (A-440Hz - default) or calibrated to match the tuning of an acoustic instrument (A-436Hz ~ A-444Hz).
Entering the Tuner Mode:

Hands-Free Method:
  1. Press and hold down the [TAP/BANK/TUNER] footswitch until '' tu '' appears on the display (approximately 1 - 3 seconds).

Button-Push Method:
  1. Press the [UTILITY] and [STORE] buttons simultaneously. '' tu '' will appear on the display.

NOTE: Once in the Tuner Mode, ALL of the DG STOMP audio outputs (OUTPUT, PHONES, DIGITAL OUT) will be muted.

Setting the Standard Pitch: (optional)
  1. Press the [UP] or [DOWN] button to increase or decrease the Standard Pitch. The pitch value will appear on the display.

NOTE: Each time the [UP] or [DOWN] button is pressed, the pitch setting will increase or decrease by 1Hz within the range of 436Hz ~ 444 Hz.

TIP: Every time the DG STOMP is powered ON, the standard pitch is reset to A-440Hz.

Tuning Procedure:
  1. Pick a note on the guitar. The name of the note closest to the one played will appear in the display.
  2. Tune the appropriate string on the guitar until the PHASER LED is the ONLY LED illuminated.

NOTE: If the string is tuned sharp, the LEDs to the right of the PHASER LED will illuminate (ROTARY and TREMOLO). If the string is tuned flat, the LEDs to the left of the PHASER LED will illuminate (FLANGER and CHORUS). The LED above the [TAP/BANK/TUNER] footswitch will also illuminate when ''in tune''.

  1. Press the [TAP/BANK/TUNER] footswitch again to exit the Tuner Mode.
