Optimizing a Song on an AW4416

As a Song is being constructed and multiple takes are being recorded, a Song Project can accumulate extra data that is ultimately not needed. Each take is stored to the Song file and the Undo and Redo functions allow the user to select the best take with up to 15 Undo or Redo operations. In a large project, multiple takes can quickly fill the hard disk space. Optimizing a Song can recover hard disk space by deleting the data used by the Undo and Redo functions.

IMPORTANT: Optimizing is only recommended when it is no longer necessary to perform Undo or Redo functions.
  1. Press the [SONG] button.
  2. Press the [F3] button to select the Song Edit page.
  3. Use the (DATA/JOG) dial to select the Song that will be optimized.
  4. Press the [ENTER] button. An 'E' should appear next to the Song name.

NOTE: An 'E' cannot appear next to more than one Song at once or else an error will occur and the operation will not execute. Use the (DATA/JOG) dial to select the extra Song that has an 'E' and then press the [ENTER] button to clear the 'E'.

  5. Use the 'CURSOR' buttons to select the 'OPTIMIZE' function.
  6. Press the [ENTER] button. The screen will display a prompt window to confirm the operation.
  7. Use the 'CURSOR' buttons to select 'OK'.
  8. Press the [ENTER] button to execute the Optimization process.
