Using the QY100 as a Tone Generator
The QY100 has a 16-part multi-timbral tone generator inside. The tone generator portion of the unit can be accessed separately by an external MIDI device or computer. In order to isolate the 16 parts from the other aspects of the QY100, an empty Song must be selected and the MIDI Echo Back and MIDI Filter parameters must be set to 'Off'. Also, the [HOST SELECT] switch must be set to the appropriate position, depending on the MIDI interface/device being used. Setting the HOST SELECT Switch:- 1) Set the [HOST SELECT]
switch based on the type of MIDI connection.
- a) If connecting an external MIDI device using the MIDI connectors, set the [HOST SELECT]
switch to 'MIDI'.
b) If connecting an external MIDI device using the TO HOST connector:
- 1] For an NEC compatible computer, set the [HOST SELECT]
switch to 'PC-1'.
2] For an IBM compatible computer, set the [HOST SELECT] switch to 'PC-2'.
3] For a Macintosh computer, set the [HOST SELECT] switch to 'Mac'.
Selecting an Empty Song:
- 1) Press the [SONG] button until the main Song screen is displayed. The word 'SONG' will appear in the top left corner.
2) If necessary, use the Cursor buttons to highlight the Song number at the top of the display.
3) Use the [-1/NO] or [+1/YES] button to select a blank or ''untouched'' Song location.
- 1) Press the [MENU] button.
2) Press the [F4] Function button (bottom grey button to the right of the display) to select 'UTILITY'.
3) Press the [MENU] button.
4) Press the [F2] Function button (second from the top) to select 'MIDI'.
5) If 'ECHO BACK' is not set to 'Off', use the Cursor buttons to highlight 'ECHO BACK', otherwise proceed to step 7.
6) Press the [-1/NO] button repeatedly until 'ECHO BACK' is set to 'Off'.
7) If 'MIDI FILTER' is not set to 'Off', use the Cursor buttons to highlight 'MIDI FILTER', otherwise proceed to step 9.
8) Press the [-1/NO] button repeatedly until 'MIDI FILTER' is set to 'OFF'.
9) Press the [EXIT] button to return to Song mode.
