Portable Digital Recorders and Audio Workstations

Viewing the Audio Waveform of a Recorded Track on an AW4416

The AW4416 has the capability of displaying audio of a recorded Song Track as an analog waveform. The scope of the waveform is limited to only one Track at a time and to a specific location of a Song.
Displaying the Waveform:
  1. Press the [TRACK] button.
  2. Press the [F1] button.
  3. Use the Cursor buttons to select the desired Track. A box will form around the selected Track.
  4. Use the shuttle of the (DATA/JOG) dial to locate the desired point in the Song.
  5. Press and hold the [SHIFT] button, then press the [F2] button. The waveform of the selected Track, at the current location of the Song, will be displayed.

Altering the Waveform Display: (optional)
Once a waveform is displayed, additional viewing functionality is available. The perspective of the waveform can be changed by adjusting the AMP (Amplitude) and TIME ''scale'' or ratio. This allows the user to effectively zoom in and zoom out on the waveform.

NOTE: Any adjustment to the ''view'' DOES NOT alter or edit the recorded audio.

  1. Adjust the AMP (Amplitude) scale.
    1. Use the Cursor buttons to highlight the Up Button (increase AMP/TIME ratio) or Down Button (decrease AMP/TIME ratio) buttons.
    2. Press the [ENTER] button repeatedly until the desired scale is in view.
  1. Adjust the TIME scale.
    1. Use the Cursor buttons to highlight the Left Button (decrease TIME/AMP ratio) or Right Button (increase TIME/AMP ratio) buttons.
    2. Press the [ENTER] button repeatedly until the desired scale is in view.
  1. Change the location in the Song.
    1. Turn the (DATA/JOG) dial counter-clockwise to ''rewind'' or clockwise to ''fast-forward''. The display will reflect the changing waveform.

Exiting the Waveform Display:
  1. Use the Cursor buttons to highlight 'EXIT'.
  2. Press the [ENTER] button to close the waveform display.
