Recording Internal Song Data to an External Sequencer
This information applies to the following products:

The Song must be recorded live in real-time to an external sequencer (hardware or software). Real-time keyboard performance data is transmitted via the MIDI OUT port.
IMPORTANT: Internal Song data does not transmit via the MIDI OUT port as actual note data when it is played.
The Song data is saved (backed up) to an external sequencer using the 'Bulk Dump' feature that transmits and stores the Song data in a SysEx format. This format cannot be edited or played and sheet music cannot be printed from it. The Bulk Dump feature is for storage purposes only.

TIP 1: Yamaha XG Works 3.0 for Windows 95/98 is a software that can be used to record a MIDI or audio performance. Although the internal Song data does not tranmit via the MIDI OUT port as a MIDI performance (note data), XG Works can be used to record a live MIDI performance or a live or pre-recorded audio performance. TIP 2: Yamaha PC Music Studio for Windows 3.1/95/98 is a software package that includes Discovering Keyboards (an interactive music education program), MIDI Orchestrator Plus (a MIDI sequencing program that can record a live MIDI performance or a SysEx bulk dump) and a MIDI/Joystick cable that connects the MIDI IN and MIDI OUT ports of any MIDI instrument to the MIDI/Joystick (Game) port of a computer.
