Using an MFC10 MIDI Foot Controller with a PSR9000 or 9000PRO

The PSR9000/9000PRO provides two setup options for the MFC10 MIDI Foot Controller:

  •  Easy Setup - Uses simple on-screen menus for calling up, displaying and selecting control templates from the 'MFC10 WIZARD'.

  •  Full Setup - Makes it possible to create original settings using the 'MFC10 WIZARD' that assign various functions to the five Foot Controllers and five Foot Switches on the MFC10. These original settings can then be stored as a template for future use.

Initial Setup:
1) Turn ON the MFC10.

2) Set the [MIDI — WX] switch to 'MIDI' and the [NORMAL — MIX] 'FUNCTION' switch to 'NORMAL' These switches are located on the rear panel of the MFC10.

3) Connect a MIDI cable from the 'MIDI OUT' on the rear panel of the MFC10 to the 'MIDI B IN' port on the rear panel of the PSR9000/9000PRO.

4) Connect a MIDI cable from the 'MIDI B OUT' on the rear panel of the PSR9000/9000PRO to the 'MIDI IN' jack on the rear panel of the MFC10.

NOTE: Make sure that the 'HOST SELECT' switch in the back of the PSR9000/9000PRO is set to 'MIDI'.

5) Turn ON the PSR9000/9000PRO.

Using the Easy Setup:
1) Press the [MIDI] button on the keyboard control panel to access the 'MIDI' functions page.

2) Press the '6' Up Button LCD button directly under 'MFC10' located at the bottom of the screen to access the 'MFC10 Menu' page. Click here to view.

3) Press the [A] LCD button to select the 'Easy Setup' tab. The 'Mode Setup' page will appear prompting the user to turn the MFC10 Function Memory ON.

4) Press the [FUNCTION] button on the MFC10 to toggle the Function Memory to ON. The 'Function' LED above the button will light.

5) Press the [NEXT] button on the PSR9000/9000PRO twice to access the 'MFC10 WIZARD/Template Choice' page. Click here to view.

6) Press the any of the '2' - '7' Up Button or Down Button LCD buttons as needed to scroll to the desired preset MFC10 template on the 'SELECT' list. The preset templates are: 'ACMP Control', 'Regist Control', 'DSP Control', and 'Multipercussion'.

7) Press the [NEXT] button. The MFC10 'SWITCH' and 'FOOT CONTROLLER' settings for the selected Easy Setup template will be displayed on the screen.

8) Press the [NEXT] button to enable the selected Easy Setup template and return to the 'MIDI' page.

9) Unplug the MIDI cable from the PSR9000/9000PRO 'MIDI B OUT' jack. The MFC10 buttons and foot controller will now control the assigned functions on the PSR9000/9000PRO.

NOTE: Unplugging the MIDI cable from from the 'MIDI B OUT' of the PSR9000/9000PRO is necessary in order to prevent extraneous MIDI messages from being transmitted from the keyboard.

10) Press the [EXIT] button to return to the main screen.
NOTE: The MFC10 play mode on/off status is retained in Flash ROM and is maintained even when the power is turned off. To exit from the MFC10 play mode see 'Disabling the MFC10 Foot Controller' below.


Using the Full Setup:
1) Press the [MIDI] button on the keyboard control panel to access the 'MIDI' functions page.

2) Press the '6' Up Button LCD button directly under 'MFC10' at the bottom of the screen to access the 'MFC10 Menu' page. Click here to view.

3) Press the [B] LCD button to select the 'Full Setup' tab. The 'Mode Setup' page will appear prompting the user to turn the MFC10 Function Memory ON.

4) Press the [FUNCTION] button on the MFC10 to toggle the Function Memory to ON. The 'Function' LED above the button will light.

5) Press the [NEXT] button on the PSR9000/9000PRO twice to access the 'MFC10 WIZARD' page. Click here to view.

6) Press the any of the '2' - '7' Up Button or Down Button LCD buttons as needed to scroll to the desired preset MFC10 template on the 'SELECT' list. The preset templates are: 'ACMP Control', 'Regist Control', 'DSP Control', and 'Multipercussion'.

7) Press the [NEXT] button.

8) Assign the desired functions to the five Foot Controllers listed on the 'MFC10 WIZARD/Foot Controller' page. Click here to view.
a) Press the '1' or '2' Up Button or Down Button LCD buttons to scroll through the 'DEVICE' list to select a Foot Controller.
b) Press the '3' - '5' Up Button or Down Button LCD buttons to select the function from the 'TYPE' list to be assigned to the selected Foot Controller.
c) Press the '6' - '8' Up Button or Down Button LCD buttons to select the 'PART' assignment.

EXAMPLE: If the 'DEVICE' selected is the '1(INT.)' Foot Controller, the desired function selected from the 'TYPE' column is 'VOLUME', and the assigned 'PART' is 'RIGHT 2', this will allow the MFC10 on-board Foot Controller to control the Volume of the PSR9000/9000PRO 'R2' section.

9) Press the [NEXT] button.

10) Assign the desired functions as needed to the five Foot Switches listed on the ''MFC10 WIZARD/Panel Controller' page. Click here to view.
a) Press the '2' or '3' Up Button or Down Button LCD buttons to scroll through the 'NO.' (Foot Switch Number) list until the desired Foot Switch number is selected.
b) Press the '4' - '7' Up Button or Down Button LCD buttons to select the desired function from the 'TYPE' list to be assigned to the selected Foot Switch.

11) Press the [NEXT] button. The 'MFC10 WIZARD/Template Preservation' page will appear.

12) Press the appropriate '2' - '7' Up Button or Down Button LCD buttons to scroll to an empty template on the 'SELECT' list. Empty templates will be numbered and labeled 'No Data'.

13) Press the [NEXT] button. The 'NAME' entry parameters will appear on the screen. Click here to view LCD functions.

14) Press the [D] or [E] LCD buttons as needed to enter a name for the custom template in the 'NAME' field.

15) Press the '8' Up Button LCD button under 'END' in the screen.

16) Press the [G] button twice to store the template.

17) Unplug the MIDI cable from the PSR9000/9000PRO 'MIDI B OUT' jack. The MFC10 buttons and foot controller will now control the assigned functions on the PSR9000/9000PRO.

18) Press the [EXIT] button to return to the main screen.

Backing Up the MFC10 Template settings on the PSR9000/9000PRO:
1) Press the [A] LCD button.

2) Press the [G] LCD button to backup the new settings.

Disabling the MFC10 Foot Controller:
1) Press the [MIDI] button to access the 'MIDI' functions page.

2) Press the '1' Up Button LCD button to select 'CANCEL' located in the bottom left corner of the screen.
