Downloading and Installing the latest OS (Operating System) on an RS7000
CAUTION: It is recommended that a backup of ALL user data be performed BEFORE this update procedure is executed.Items Required to Perform this Update:
• A blank SmartMedia card (3.3V, 8MB or larger)
• A SmartMedia™ Floppy Disk Adapter, or a PC equipped with a SmartMedia™ Reader/Writer.
NOTE: The SmartMedia™ cards and the SmartMedia™ Reader/Writer are available for purchase online at www.MOTIFator.com, a third party support and forum website for users of the Yamaha Motif Music Production Synthesizer. SmartMedia™ Floppy Disk Adapters are available from various online vendors, or through local retail outlets where computer products are sold.
Download Procedure:
1) Click here to download the latest OS update file Version 1.2. The instructions below explain the download process.
a) Select the 'Save this program to disk' radio button in the 'File Download' dialog box.
b) Click the <OK> button. The 'Save As' dialog box will appear. 
c) Select the Windows Desktop as the destination folder.
1] Click on the drop-down button in the 'Save In:' field and select 'Desktop'. ('Desktop' will appear at the top of the drop-down list)
2] Click the <Save> button. The 'Saving Progress' dialog box will appear until the download is complete.

Extraction Procedure:
1) Double-click on the 'RS7000_OS.exe' application file that is located on the Windows Desktop. The 'WinZip Self-Extractor' dialog box will appear.
a) Click the <Unzip> button. The files will be unzipped into the Windows Desktop and then the 'WinZip Self-Extractor' confirmation dialog box will appear.
b) Click the <OK> button.
c) Close the 'WinZip Self-Extractor' dialog box by clicking on the <Close>button.
NOTE: The above procedure will save three files to the Windows Desktop into a folder called 'RS7000_OS'.
Installation Procedure:
1) Copy the file '0532OS_.pgm' to a blank SmartMedia™ card using one of the following options:
a) SmartMedia™ Floppy Disk Adaptor or SmartMedia™ Reader/Writer.
2) Insert the SmartMedia™ card containing the upgrade program into the slot on the front panel of RS7000. The correct direction of SmartMedia card is printed on the panel.
3) Press and hold down the [REC] button and [STOP]buttons while turning the power ON.
4) Press [ENTER] button to start loading from the SmartMedia™ card. The installation progress will be displayed on the LCD while the OS is automatically being updated. When the installation is complete, the LCD will display a message prompt instructing the user to restart the system.
CAUTION: DO NOT turn OFF the RS7000, remove the SmartMedia ™ card, or press any buttons or keys while the update is in progress.
5) Turn the power Off.
6) Remove the SmartMedia™ card from the slot.
IMPORTANT: It is recommended that a Factory Reset be performed after updating.
Reset Procedure:
1) Press and hold down the [OCT DOWN], [OCT UP] and the [STORE] buttons while turning the power ON.
2) Release the buttons once the power is ON.
