Updating the Operating System on a AW2816
The latest operating system (OS) for the AW2816 Digital Audio Workstation on CD-ROM is automatically shipped to all registered U.S. users. If an AW2816 has not yet been registered with Yamaha it is possible to register the product online. Click here to access the 'Yamaha AW2816 Registration' page. After completing the online form (U.S. Customers only), a CD-ROM containing the latest operating system (Version 1.12) will be mailed out.
The latest operating system can also be downloaded from the AW2816 Operating Software Download page and copied to a CD-R disc using a CD-RW drive. The OS can then be installed on the AW2816 using the following procedure. The files that can be downloaded are identical to those included in the update CD-ROM distributed by Yamaha. However, if the files are downloaded, they must first be written to a CD-R. If this is not possible or desirable, it is recommended that the system be updated using the update CD-ROM distributed by Yamaha.

WARNING: Before performing the update procedure for the AW4416, a backup of all Songs and important data is recommended to prevent data loss due to unexpected errors or mishaps.
CAUTION: Make sure all the necessary precautions are made to prevent the accidental loss of power to the unit while performing this procedure. If you proceed incorrectly or the power goes down during the update operation, malfunction to the unit and possibly damage or loss of recorded data may result. Yamaha assumes no responsibility for the loss of data, or for any damage to the unit that occurs due to the improper handling or usage of the product.

Press the [CD PLAY] button to access the 'CD PLAY' screen.
Insert the CD-ROM disc containing the latest OS for the AW2816.
Press the [SONG] button to access Song mode.
Turn OFF the AW2816.
Press and continue to hold down the [HOME] and [AUX 1] buttons while turning ON the AW2816. The display will flash 'OS Update'.
Release the the [HOME] and [AUX 1] buttons. After a minute the consent agreement will appear on the screen.
Press the [ENTER] button to continue with the update. The segments in the bar graph display will light in succession from start to end for several minutes until all segments have been lit.
When all the segments in the bar graph display have lit, turn off the power of the AW2816. The system update has been completed.
NOTE: The AW2816 will not indicate when the update is complete. It is only complete once the bar graph segments are all lit. If there is any uncertainty allow extra time for the update process to be completed.
