Cascading Two 01V Mixers

By using the Stereo Digital In and Stereo Digital Out connections, two 01Vs can be cascaded for 48 channels of digital mixing. The audio signals from 01V-A mixer are combined together into a stereo mix and then sent to 01V-B mixer via the Digital Stereo Coaxial connections. When doing this it is necessary to set 01V-A mixer as the wordclock master and the 01V-B mixer as the wordclock slave. It will also be necessary to set the delay time on the 01V-B mixer since it takes several hundred microseconds for the 01V-A mixer to process its digital audio data. Setting Input Channel Delays When Cascading Multiple 01V Mixers

For simultaneous solo operation, display page and fader mode selection, two or more 01Vs can be linked together using the TO HOST or MIDI ports by setting up the Link Port between the two 01V mixers.
Setting the Wordclock Master (01V-A):
  1. Connect the 'DIGITAL STEREO COAXIAL OUT' for 01V-A to the 'DIGITAL STEREO COAXIAL IN' for the 01V-B using a digital coaxial cable.
  2. Make the following selections on the 01V-A:

    1. Press the [SETUP] button on 01V-A until 'SETUP' page '1' appears with 'WORD CLOCK SELECT' displayed in the screen.. Click here to view 'SETUP' page '1'.
    2. Use the Up Button, Down Button, Left Button, and Right Button 'CURSOR' buttons to select 'INT 44.1' in the screen.
    3. Press the [ENTER] button.

  1. Make the following selections on the 01V-B:

    1. Press the [SETUP] button on 01V-A until 'SETUP' page '1' appears with 'WORD CLOCK SELECT' displayed in the screen.
    2. Use the Up Button, Down Button, Left Button, and Right Button 'CURSOR' buttons to select 'ST. IN DIGITAL' in the screen.
    3. Press the [ENTER] button.
    4. Press the [PAN/ROUTING] button until 'PAN/ROUT' page '4' is displayed. Click here to view the 'PAN/ROUT' page '4'.
    5. Use the Up Button, Down Button, Left Button, and Right Button 'CURSOR buttons' to select the 'ON/OFF' for the 'STEREO CASCADE' switch in the screen.
    6. Press the [ENTER] button to toggle the 'STEREO CASCADE' switch to 'ON'.

Setting Up the MIDI Link Port Using the TO HOST Port:
  1. Connect the HOST port for the 01V-A mixer to the HOST port for 01V-B mixer using a bi-directional 8-pin mini din serial cable.

    NOTE: This cable (Part Name/Number, MAC CABLE) can be ordered through any Yamaha dealer, or by calling the Yamaha Parts Department at (888) 892-6242.

  2. Press the [MIDI] button on the 01V-A mixer until 'MIDI' page 1 is displayed. Click here to view. If the 'LINK PORT' is not set to 'HOST', proceed to the next step.
  3. Use the Up Button, Down Button, Left Button, and Right Button 'CURSOR buttons to select 'PORT'.
  4. Use the (DATA) to select 'MIDI'. This will force the link port to be the HOST port.
  5. Repeat the steps 2- 4 for the 01V-B mixer.

Setting Up the MIDI Link Port Using Two MIDI Cables:
  1. Connect the MIDI OUT port of 01V-A to the MIDI IN port of 01V-B using a standard MIDI cable. Connect the MIDI OUT port of 01V-B to the MIDI IN port of 01V-A using a standard MIDI cable.
  2. Press the [MIDI] button on the 01V-A mixer until 'MIDI' page '1' is displayed. If the 'LINK PORT' is not set to 'MIDI' proceed to the next step.
  3. Use the Up Button, Down Button, Left Button, and Right Button 'CURSOR buttons to select 'PORT'.
  4. Turn the (DATA) change to select either 'PC-1' or 'PC-2'. This will force the link port to be the HOST port.
  5. Repeat the steps 2-4 for the 01V-B mixer.

Cascading Auxiliary Sends 1-4:
  1. Connect Omni Outputs 1-4 of 01V-A to input channels 13-16 of 01V-B.
  2. Make the following selections on the 01V-A mixer:

    1. Press the [PAN/ROUTING] button on the 01V-A mixer until 'PAN/ROUT' page '4' is displayed.
    2. Use the Up Button, Down Button, Left Button, and Right Button 'CURSOR' buttons and the Data Dial to set Omni Outs 1-4 to Aux 1-4 respectively.
  1. Make the following selections on the 01V-B mixer.

    1. Press the [SETUP] button on 01V-B until SETUP page 4 is displayed. Click here to view.
    2. Use the Up Button, Down Button, Left Button, and Right Button 'CURSOR' buttons to select 'MONO x 2' under 'AUX 1-2'.
    3. Press the [ENTER] button to pair Aux Sends 1-2.
    4. Repeat the previous steps a - c for Aux Sends 3-4.
    5. Press the [AUX 1] button to display 'AUX1' page '1' screen. Click here to view.
    6. Use the Up Button, Down Button, Left Button, and Right Button 'CURSOR' buttons to select 'POST' under '13-14'.
    7. Press the [ENTER] button to toggle from 'POST' to 'PRE'.
    8. Raise the '13-14' fader to 0.
    9. Press the [AUX3] button on the 01V-B mixer until the 'AUX3' page '1' screen is displayed.
    10. Use the Up Button, Down Button, Left Button, and Right Button 'CURSOR' buttons to select 'POST' under '15-16'.
    11. Press the [ENTER] button to change 'POST' to 'PRE'.
    12. Raise the '15-16' fader to 0.
