Portable Digital Recorders and Audio Workstations

Intermittent AC Power Problems

In many areas the AC power is not consistent or may occasionally fail, due to storms or other reasons. The AW4416, AW2816 and AW16G are hard disk recorder systems and an interruption of AC power could lead to full failure of the recorder or loss of song data. A UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply) will maintain the power voltage for a short period of time when the AC power drops out or fails. The UPS uses batteries to supply an AC voltage for a short period of time that allows you to save your song and power down the recorder safely.

UPS devices are used mainly in the computer industry and can be purchased at most computer stores. Follow the manufacturers installation instructions. Basically though, the UPS plugs into the AC wall outlet and the recorder plugs into the UPS unit.

WARNING: IF THE POWER FAILS, DO NOT CONTINUE TO USE THE RECORDER. THE UPS CAN PROVIDE ENOUGH POWER TO SHUT DOWN BUT NOT ENOUGH CLEAN AC POWER FOR CONTINUED RECORDING.
