Routing External Processors via the OMNI Outs on an AW4416
The OMNI outputs on the AW4416 can be used as the Effect Sends when connected to the inputs of the effect processor. They can output a variety of routings including Busses, Stereo L/R, Channel Direct, Recorder Track outputs, and AUX 1-4 (the recommended as well as the default routing).
The standard inputs on the back panel or the line level inputs from an optional analog input card can be used as the patch-in points from the outputs of the external processor. These inputs when used as effect returns must be routed to the stereo bus on Pan page '1-16' in order to bring the external effect signal back into the main mix.

Audio Cable Connections:
NOTE: The 'OMNI OUT' outputs are
1/4'' TS (unbalanced) with a nominal level of 0dB. Refer to the documentation
of the effects processor manufacturer to determine additional cabling requirements.
-
Connect the 1/4'' plug-end of
an audio cable to 'OMNI OUT 1' on the AW4416.
Connect the other end of the audio
cable to the input of the effects processor.
Connect the outputs of the effects
processor to two Input Channels of the AW4416, i.e. Input Channels 15 and 16.
NOTE: Step 3 assumes a stereo output configuration
on the effects processor. Use one Input Channel on the AW4416 if using a 'mono'
output on the effects processor.
