Downloading and Installing Cakewalk Instrument Definition Files for Yamaha MIDI Instruments
This information applies to the following Yamaha products:

IMPORTANT: The file 'Yamaha Classics.ins' (included in the download below) contains the following instrument definitions: AN1X, DX7, EMT10, MU50, P100, PROMIX 01, PSR300, PSR500, PSR520, PSR530, PSR6700, QS300, QY10, SPX90, SY22, SY35, SY55, SY77, SY85, SY99, TG33, TG100, TG300, TG500, TX7, VL70.
NOTE: Cakewalk Instrument Definition Files are available for the Yamaha MIDI instruments listed above. The download link is provided below. If an instrument definition is not available for your Yamaha MIDI instrument, contact Cakewalk for information on how to create a custom instrument definition.
Downloading the Cakewalk Instrument Definition File Pack:

Click here to download the Cakewalk Instrument Definition Files Pak. The instructions below explain the download process.
Extraction Procedure:

Double-click on the InsDefs.exe' application file that is located on the Windows Desktop. The 'WinZip Self-Extractor' dialog box will appear.

Select the Windows Desktop as the destination folder for the files in the 'Unzip to folder:' box.

Click the <Browse>button.
Select 'Desktop'. ('Desktop' appears at the top of the list)
NOTE: The above procedure will save a folder named 'Yamaha Instrument Definitions' to the Windows Desktop.
Installing the Cakewalk Instrument Definition File:
NOTE: This procedure applies to Cakewalk Pro Audio 9. The procedure will vary depending on the version of Cakewalk. Refer to the Cakewalk Software Manual for instructions on how to install an instrument definition file.

Launch the Cakewalk program.
Click on the 'Options' menu.
Select 'Instruments' from the drop-down menu. This will open the 'Assign Instruments' window.
Click on the <Define...>button. This will open the 'Define Instrument and Names' window.
Click on the <Import>button. This will open the 'Import Instrument Definitions' window.
Select 'Desktop' in the 'Look in:' field.
Double-click on the folder 'Yamaha Instrument Definitions'.
Double-click on the desired Cakewalk Instrument Definition file. This will open the 'Import Instrument Definitions' window.
Select the desired instrument.
Click the <OK> button.
Click the <Close> button. The 'Assign Instruments' window will still be open.
Assign all 'Port/Channel' settings to the new definition.
Click the <OK> button.
