Some Standard MIDI File Song Lyrics Do Not Display

This information pertains to the following Yamaha models:

CVP96, CVP98, CVP103, CVP105, CVP107, CVP109, CVP201, CVP203, CVP205, CVP207, CVP209, CVP700, PSR630, PSR640, PSR730, PSR740, PSR1000, PSR2000, PSR8000, PSR9000, and 9000PRO

There are two types of Standard MIDI Files (SMF):
  • Type 0 - This SMF type contains all the channels on one track.
  • Type 1 - This SMF type contains each MIDI channel on a separate track.
Type 1 files will display Lyrics in some computer programs, but not on the Yamaha models listed above. To display Lyrics on these models, the Standard MIDI File must be Type 0 (SMF 0).

The Yamaha XG MIDI Library, available at www.yamahamusicsoft.com, contains a selection of hundreds of Standard MIDI Files with Lyrics that are compatible with the Yamaha models listed above.
