Sequencing with Cakewalk and a Yamaha Keyboard

When sequencing with Cakewalk, it is recommended that the Cakewalk Instrument Definition file for the particular model keyboard be installed into Cakewalk first. The instrument definition will automate the selection of voice patches for each recording track. Not all Yamaha models have a corresponding instrument definition file. However, patch selection can also be done manually by using the 'Voice List' that accompanies almost all Yamaha keyboard models. If a Yamaha model is GM or XG compatible, most versions of Cakewalk come with built-in General MIDI and XG instrument definitions that can be used to automate voice selection.
