Qualifications
Must be between the ages of 16 and 21 at the time of the application
Must be nominated by a university or private teacher, conductor, director, or professional performer, music dealer, or community musical leader. (Nominators may not be related in any way to the nominee.)
Must have attained a high level of musical achievement in solo appearances, honors, scholarships, and ensemble performances
Must have the personal qualities compatible with the high musical standards necessary for acceptance into the program
To Apply:
In order to be considered for this contest you must be available for travel and performance from Saturday, June 20 through Tuesday, June 23, 2009
Complete all information on the application form (see below).
Obtain a nomination and have him/her complete all nominator information (see below). There are no other expectations placed on them
Include recommendations from one other person, other than nominator, who is familiar with your musicianship and character
Submit a recording (CD only) of a recent solo performance (with accompaniment — if applicable) with the application form by the deadline. Recording should include two to three different pieces (or excerpts), and may display different styles but should above all show the students strongest musical attributes. Recordings must be of high audio quality and cannot be returned. Recordings deemed low in audio quality will not be reviewed. Titles and composers of performed pieces must be included. Original pieces are welcome. The number of pieces sent in are up to the applicant's discretion
All application materials must be postmarked by 12:00 midnight, March 15, 2009
