Yamaha MY Series Expansion Cards Target Networking

— CobraNet™ and Broadcast-Specific Models Added to Line —

Las Vegas, NV — Yamaha Commercial Audio expands on the line of Mini-YGDAI digital I/O cards that includes the MY8 and MY16 Series with the NSCA 2006 introduction of two new models – the 16-channel MY16-CII CobraNet™ interface and 8-channel MY8-AEB.

Seamlessly integrating with the normal operation of –Yamaha digital devices, the MY Series Series cards are up to 24bit/96kHz compatible and insert into any of the mini–YGDAI slots on the rear panel of the PM, DM and 0 series digital mixing consoles, as well as the DME series programmable DSP engines. Audio processing is supported with 48-bit internal precision on a 24-bit I/O.

Model MY8-AEB, an 8 input/8 output AES/EBU interface, has been designed specifically for the broadcast market, and is compatible with AES3id – 1995 Standard for unbalanced digital signal transmission. Connections include eight BNC I/O and a single BNC Reference Video Sync input. The MY8-AEB provides sampling rates of 44.1kHz or 48kHz, and is capable of seamlessly generating Word Clock signal (even if Video Sync is lost) using new eXi-Clock technology.

The 16-channel MY16-CII CobraNet interface replaces model MY-16C, and is targeted to the system integration and live sound reinforcements markets. Equipped with primary and secondary CobraNet ports, the MY16-CII provides seamless audio connection with any CobraNet network, and will also provide integrated control between the DME and PM5D. An updated, more efficient circuit design decreases the cost, reduces power consumption, and ensures that the unit will be compatible with more devices such as the DM1000 and 01V96.

"These updates are the result of Yamaha listening to the needs of specific markets," states Larry Italia, vice president and general manager, Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems. "If you own a Yamaha digital mixing device and need digital I/O in CobraNet or unbalanced AES/EBU formats, you now have options to create the input/output configuration that suits your application, without compatibility issues."

The MY8-AEB is currently available; model MY-16CII will ship in Q3 of 2006.
