Far from being just a simple combination MIDI tone generator/sequencer, the QY70 is an extremely powerful small-size version of Yamaha's top-of-the-line XG music powerhouse, the QY700.

The QY70 is a completely self-contained XG music workstation with full GM compatibility, that boasts high-quality instrument and drum kit voices, full voice editing functions, quick-sketch composing capabilities, a huge database of musical phrases and styles, three digital multi-effects processors, and many more uncompromising features which give the QY70 the power to hold its own in the most demanding of musical situations.

Graphic and Intuitive User Interface

The layout is specifically designed for fast and intuitive operation; with both dedicated and multi-function control buttons, clear indicators and cursor keys, for quick, easy navigation around the graphic screens. Rear and front panels feature master volume and LCD contrast controls, MIDI IN/OUT terminals, a stereo mini-jack for connecting headphones or externally amplified monitor system. TO HOST connector and HOST SELECT switch allow convenience of direct computer connection interface.

Built-In Music Database and Phrase-based Composing

A powerful 20-song,8 track high-resolution sequencer for phrase-based style construction and 16 linear tracks designed to let you sketch out a song quickly and easily. Full editing features, with extensive song, measure, track and event editing functions. A built-in database of 4,167 preset phrases include professionally programmed musical performances. (Drum and percussion loop, bass lines, guitar, keyboard and other instruments riffs and chords, to represent virtually every type of music).

Style Sections

Each Style includes special matching Sections, or various Intro, Fill-in and ending variations which can be easily added to create a variety of smooth and natural transitions throughout the song. There are 128 preset Styles (each with 6 Sections) ready for use at any time, as well as 64 user Styles (each with 6 user-programmed Sections) that you can create yourself.

Auto Bass Chord

The advanced ABC (Auto Bass Chord) accompaniment system automatically reharmonizes the patterns according to the chord type you choose. Moreover, "Preset Chord Templates" are availiable to let you apply standard chord progressions from a range of musical genres, including Pop, Ballad, Blues, and more.

Real Time, Step and Multi Recording

The QY70 is versatile to the core as it permits Real Time, Step and Multi (multiple track) recording, plus nondestructive "Groove Templates" which let you apply a more human feel to the playback through preprogrammed timing parameters. These include special quantize, clock shift, swing and velocity values, to completely change the groove, but without altering the original data.

XG Voices

As a XG format MIDI device, the QY70 features powerful expanded voice and multi-effects capabilities. There are 519 voices and 20 drum kits available to provide you with virtually every type of musical instrument voice you could ever want, all generated by Yamaha's high-quality AWM2 tone generation process. You can edit various characteristics of the voices-such as cutoff frequency, resonance, attack time and more-using the panel controls, to create your own customized sound.

Multi-Effects

With the three digital multi-effects processors, you polish your mix with reverb, delay, chorus and many other effects. In all, there are 11 Reverb, 1 Chorus, and 43 "Variation" type effects which include various reverb, modulation, distortion, EQ and other effects, all of which can be edited to suit your song.

Data Filer Utility Software for PC/Mac

QY Data Filer software is available to let you save QY70 data to a computer for storage on a floppy disk, as well as transmit saved data from a computer back to the QY70. It also provides maximum data compatibility by letting you load SMF data files from a computer to the QY70 for playback and editing, or transmit song files created on the QY70 to a computer as SMF song files. In addition, the software lets you use a computer to clear data files in the QY70.
