The new Clavinova CLP175 elegantly harmonizes grand piano aesthetics with the power and advanced functionality of Yamaha digital piano technology. Featuring our 'Natural Keyboard' with wooden keys and iAFC (Instrumental Active Field control), the CLP175 combines outstanding response and breathtakingly realistic sound in a beautiful grand piano style wood cabinet.

Natural Piano Key Touch
For uncanny warmth and texture, the CLP175 features our 'Natural Keyboard' with real wooden keys – just like those found in acoustic pianos. And just like an acoustic piano, the key weighting gets progressively lighter as you move up the keyboard. Meanwhile its new hammer action ensures that the CLP175's touch is virtually indistinguishable from that of an acoustic piano. Sensors under the hammers and cushions process damper on/off and hammer velocity information accurately interpreting the performance of even the most demanding pianist.

Classic Polished Ebony Finish
With its magnifecently sculpted contours and polished ebony finish, the CLP175 adds a touch of class to any room. Styled in the shape of a real grand piano, the wooden cabinet is finished with an attractive back frame, rim, and adjustable lid.

Get Connected for a Wider World of Music!
The CLP175 features a USB interface, allowing convenient connection to virtually any current home computer. The power of a PC and the Internet provide vastly expanded musical capabilities. The CLP175 comes complete with a CD-ROM which includes the USB driver, File Utility, and Scorch Sample songs. The File Utility allows simple "drag and drop" management of songs between the CLP-175 and the computer while Scorch is a brilliant innovation in music interactivity. A single Scorch file contains a music score and its associated MIDI song data. The score may be displayed on your computer monitor or even printed out, while the song is played through the CLP175. The score is also interactive – the MIDI song data is updated with any adjustments you make (such as note and dynamics changes). Several Scorch/XF sample files are included on the CD-ROM so you can discover just how easy it is to use. Further files can be easily obtained from yamahamusicsoft.com. The site has a wealth of additional information on Yamaha Clavinovas. Also included on the Cd-ROM is Adventus Software Development's superb 'Piano Suite Lite' application with advanced piano player, library, lesson and game functions all rolled into one thoroughly enjoyable educational program.

Take to the stage

AWM Tone Generation and New Piano Samples
The CLP175 boasts AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) tone generation for the ultimate in instrument realism. Furthermore, many different samples are used to ensure the sound of the CLP175 accurately matches that of an acoustic grand piano. DSS (Dynamic Stereo Sampling) samples are taken at different levels from loud to soft, and provide the subtle differences in volume and timbre that result from how hard the instrument is played. Stereo Sustain samples recreate soundboard and overtone harmonics which occur when the damper pedal is pressed. Key-Off samples provide the sound of actual dampers muting the piano strings when a key is released. And finally, String Resonance samples provide the complex resonances that make an acoustic piano sound so full and rich.

iAFC (Instrumental Active Field Control)
To further enhance your playing and listening pleasure, Yamaha has developed a new, advanced technology known as iAFC. Instrumental Active Field Control makes use of an integral, hidden microphone and discretely placed speakers (in addition to the 'regular' speakers) to create a rich sound that best matches the acoustic characteristics of the room you're playing in. iAFC uses three elements to recreate the ultimate realism of a live performance: 'Dynamic Damper Effect,' 'Spatial Ensemble Effect' and 'Natural Soundboard.' The built-in microphones make the CLP175 capable of performing its own sound check, making tonal adjustments based on the environment surrounding the instrument.
