How did you become a Worship Leader?
I became a worship leader by default. The Bible Study where I was leading worship at became a church and I became the worship leader.

What is most gratifying to you as a worship leader?
For me the most gratifying thing is to watch the process of people becoming worshippers. Two stories come to mind. 1. a homeless guy that came to our study, got saved and ended up in a church I was a part of totally transformed with a job, a wife to be and his hands lifted in the air worshipping. 2. a girl that came forward in an altar call and watching her learn how to worship God over the next few weeks and months.

What are your major challenges as a worship leader?
The biggest challenge is time management. How to be most effective with my time and balance family and opportunities to minister. I've helped bridge that by including them in the ministry. The second biggest challenge is my relationship with the pastor. I've served with several and some are better than others. The most effective combination for me is when I'm friends with the pastor and there is a high degree of communication. I see myself as an extension of the Senior Pastor's ministry. When I'm not in the loop, I find it difficult to do my best for the church.

How would you describe your church's worship? (Traditional, Contemporary, Blended etc.)
We are a rockin' church

What is your vision for worship at your church?
My vision is to develop a training ground for worship leaders and artisans. We are working to develop a community of folks that love to do things together that will impact art, photography, theology, music and technology. We host a conference for worship leaders every year and are working to launch a school for worship and the arts. We are also developing a couple of websites to help communicate to worship leaders. www.worshipsong.com provides quality worship songs and give worship leaders the opportunity to listen to a song and download a chord chart for free. In the future we will offer mp3 downloads and lead sheet downloads. We also are developing worshiplifeonline.com. Worship Life is our training ministry for worship leaders. We hope to have this site operational by spring 2006.

How is Yamaha helping you to achieve this vision? (Yamaha gear you use, seminars attended, resources etc)
Yamaha has been a key partner in our training events and have helped provide quality instruments that help us achieve the sound we're looking for. The combination of technological training and spiritual insights is key for those coming to our worship events and Yamaha's new division focusing on worship has been a tremendous help to us.
