1) A cable used to connect the serial port of a personal computer to an external device. 2) A cable used to connect the To Host port of a MIDI device to a personal computer. A Macintosh computer uses a standard printer cable to connect its modem or printer port to the To Host port on a MIDI device. A PC uses a special cable with an 8-pin Mini DIN connector on one end and a 9-pin D-SUB connector on the other, to connect its serial port to the To Host port on a MIDI device. (The Host Select switch on the MIDI device must be set to Mac when using a Macintosh, or PC2 when using a PC.) |
