2014 Monterey Jazz Festival

Monterey County Fairgrounds
2004 Fairground Road
Monterey, CA 93940

The Monterey Jazz Festival is the longest-running annual jazz event in the world, which features over 500 artists performing on eight stages spread over the 20-acre Monterey Fairgrounds in Monterey, CA. In this LIVE broadcast performance, Brazilian-born vocalist Claudia Villela joins saxophonist Harvey Wainapel to explore Getz/Gilberto, the iconic 1963 bossa nova album by saxophonist Stan Getz and guitarist Joao Gilberto that sparked the world's love for bossa nova and won the 1965 GRAMMY for Album of the Year. Villela, a vocalist as well as pianist, percussionist, composer and lyricist, is commonly recognized for her beautiful five-octave voice, interpreting lyrics with keen emotional insight and her work as an inventive scat singer. Joined by accomplished jazz and Brazilian musician Wainapel, this talented duo promises to deliver a fantastic performance. This uncut, unedited performance is broadcast LIVE from the Night Club at the 2014 Monterey Jazz Festival in Monterey, CA on September 19, 2014.
