Brazilian native André Mehmari is considered one of the most expressive and talented young artists of his time. He is acclaimed for his work as a jazz musician, as well as his compositions and arrangements in classical and popular genres. Self-taught in jazz improvisation, Mehmari's performances capture the influences of jazz greats such as Chick Corea and Keith Jarrett, as well as captivate audiences through his imaginative arrangements and musicality. Mehmari has produced multiple albums as a solo artist and with his trio--whom he often perfoms with. He has also received honors such as the first prize winner of the "Sinfonia para Mario Covas" National Composition Competitition Award, and first prize in the national VISA MPB Competition--the most prestigious award in Brazilian popular music. This uncut, unedited performance was previously recorded at the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix, AZ on Tuesday, September 24, 2013.
