NEW! Orrin Evans Trio, Set 2
2013 Monterey Jazz Festival

Monterey County Fairgrounds
2000 Fairground Road
Monterey, CA 93940

Orrin Evans, one of the leading pianists of his generation, has talents as a pianist, composer, bandleader, teacher, producer and arranger. Evans has also been described as "…a poised artist with an impressive template of ideas at his command," by the New York Times. As a Philadelphia native, Evans was heavily influenced by the musical culture of the city, as well as his mentors--whom included artists such as William Whitaker, Jack Carr, and Charles Pettaway. He later moved to New York and joined Bobby Watson's band "Horizon" on their European tour, which continued to grow Evans as an influential jazz musician. Evans continues to release albums, including his latest Freedom; as well as perform with his trio featuring bassist Dwayne Burno, drummer Byron Landham, and saxophonist Larry McKenna. This is the second of three sets. This uncut, unedited performance was previously recorded at the Monterey Jazz Festival on Saturday, September 21, 2013.
