NEW! Joe Lovano Us Five
2013 Monterey Jazz Festival

Monterey County Fairgrounds
2000 Fairground Road
Monterey, CA 93940

Joe Lovano has been acclaimed by the New York Times as "one of the greatest musicians in jazz history," as well as having distinguished himself as a Grammy Award winning saxophone legend. In 2009, Lovano formed "Us Five"--featuring drummers Otis Brown III and Francisco Mela, bassist Esperanza Spalding, and pianist James Weidman. The band's recent accomplishments include a Grammy Nomination for their release of Bird Songs on Lovano's 22nd album for Blue Note Records. Also, in 2011, Bird Songs was named "Recording of the Year," and Us Five was named "Small Ensemble of the Year" by the Jazz Journalists Association. This uncut, unedited performance was previously recorded at the Monterey Jazz Festival on Friday, September 20, 2013.
