Piano-e-Competition

Davis Concert Hall at University of Alaska, Fairbanks
12 Tanana Dr
Fairbanks, AK 99709

Pianists from around the world converged in Fairbanks in May 2018 to compete in the prestigious 2018 Alaska International Piano-e-Competition for more than $65,000 in cash and prizes. From an initial round of 24 contestants, the top three finalists vied for the grand prize; however, over the 10-day competition, there were many other outstanding performances as well.

This special rebroadcast consists of the performance from Daria Kiseleva of Russia. Daria debuted as a soloist with orchestra at age 10, performing the Mozart Concerto No. 8. Winning First Prize of the prestigious IV BNDES International Piano Competition in 2014 brought her appearances with the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra de Experimental de Repertório, and a recital series in Sala Sao Paolo and Theatre Municipal of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; the prize also led to performances in the Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall in New York as a Golden Key Music Festival Guest Artist, and in the Salle Cortot in Paris. In October 2015, she became Laureate of the Marguerite Long International Piano Competition, performing with the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris at Theatre des Champs Élysées. Honors include First Prize of Rotary Club International Piano Competition in Mallorca (concert series in Spain, Germany and France), performances in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, Salle Gauveau (Paris), 35 Londrina Festival and Festival VII Virtuosi Gravata (Brazil), Schlern Festival (Italy), Museum of Modern Art and Foundation Oscar Americano (Sao Paolo), and Aptos Keyboard Series (Monterey Bay, California). In May 2017, Daria became the first Grand Prize Laureate of the Impromptu! Drozdoff Audition; and in February 2018, she was awarded Fourth Prize in Los Angeles International Piano Competition.

Selections featured in this Schubert Round performance include:
  • Sonata in C Minor, D. 958 (Franz Schubert)

This performance was originally recorded and broadcast live on May 26, 2018, at Davis Concert Hall in Fairbanks, AK.
