This special rebroadcast consists of the solo piano performance from Second Prize winner Timur Mustakimov of Russia. He began studying piano at the age of eight and won his first regional competition at the age of twelve. Timur attended the Professional Music School for Gifted Children in Kazan, entered Kazan State Conservatory in 2006, and in 2009 was offered a full scholarship for the Master of Music degree in at Mannes School of Music.
Timur enjoys frequent success at competitions, being awarded prizes at the Russian Piano Competition and the International Piano Competition. He participated in PianoSummer Festival in New Paltz and won 1st prize in the Jacob Flier competition. A winner of the Concerto Competition at Mannes, Timur was also Gold Prize winner and audience prize recipient at the Midwest International Piano Competition. He recently was a prize winner and audience choice recipient award at Italy’s Premio Internazionale Pianistico A. Scriabin. His latest CD, Late Russian Romanticism features works by Scriabin and Myaskovsky.
Timur completed his doctoral studies at Kazan Conservatory in 2015 and is currently a doctoral student at Temple University in the Piano Performance program with Dr. Charles Abramovic and is the assistant to Dr. Sara Davis Buechner.
