New Arts Education Centers Clavinova Lab Opens the Door to Creativity
One of the Centers main features is an instructional music lab
that is home to ten Clavinova CVP92, CVP94, and CVP96 digital pianos along
with a teachers unit. The lab is designed for both group and individual
instruction. Currently, there are approximately 30 students enrolled in
According to Musical Director Brad Diamond, the Clavinova lab has been a big hit with students of all ages. The students really enjoy them, says Diamond. We wanted a wide variety of models and features, and Bob Street of Claude P. Street Piano Company helped us achieve that. In addition to the piano lessons, Diamond says the Center is frequented
by touring groups of schoolchildren. The kids sit in on a live performance,
and then they have the opportunity to experiment with sound generation
and MIDI, says Diamond. The Clavinova is so user-friendly
that we The Clavinovas at the Center also provide most of the background music for performances and theatrical productions. The numerous classrooms and music labs at the Renaissance Center accompany
a 60-foot dome CyberSphere Digital Theater, the Michael Farady Science
Theater, a 3,000 square foot bookstore and an art gallery. Other Yamaha
Disklavier and acoustic pianos and equipment can be found throughout the
Center.
