Clavinova Festivals
(continued from page 4)

The Pittsburgh participants were treated to a Friday evening pizza party attended by Frazer and Joy Carden. As a result of the Clavinova Festival’s explosive growth, Carden, a Yamaha education consultant, recently joined Frazer as the program’s second Clavinova Festival coordinator.

The young Pittsburgh musicians also got the thrill of playing on the stage of Heinz Hall, home to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra’s Director of Community Outreach, Scott Dickson, was so impressed with the Clavinova ensemble work that he invited next year’s participants to perform on the Heinz stage as well.

Neeper’s comments are seconded by Dale Mathis, who recently hosted a Festival at ABC Music in Honolulu, HI. “This year we decided to change our format slightly to a non-competitive event,” says Mathis. “Either way, competitive or non-competitive, it’s a great thing. Everyone — kids, parents, teachers and our sales staff — benefits from the exposure to the innovations inherent in the Clavinova. The kids are exposed to technology and music and that’s a good thing.”
