“Lights Of Love” Shine to Bring Clavinova Into Life of Seniors

Motivated by the wish to purchase a Clavinova CVP94 digital piano for its residents to use, the Villa Pines Living Center in Friendship, WI celebrated the 1998 Christmas holidays with a novel fund raising drive. Under the guidance of activity director Michael Boucher, Villa Pines created and implemented “Lights of Love,” an inspirational program whose goal is to raise money that will be used to purchase various items that add to the quality of life for its resident seniors. A Christmas tree was placed outside the residence and for every $5.00 donated to the fund, a “light of love” was added to the tree.

Subscribing to the theory that music has a beneficial impact on one’s life and agreeing with current research in the area of wellness and music, Boucher is a firm believer that having live music in a senior environment is extremely helpful to the resident’s mental and physical well being.
