Yamaha Unveils the Future of Pianos at NAMM Show

Yamaha's Winter NAMM booth in Los Angeles featured new and existing pianos along with a host of exciting merchandising tools, programs and two award presentations. Visitors were treated to an original performance by 14-time Grammy Award winner David Foster and to daily appearances by young composers from Yamaha Music Education System.

For an unprecedented third consecutive year, the Clavinova Digital Piano received MMR magazine's Dealers' Choice Award as the new CVP series was voted "1997 Product of the Year" in the publication's annual poll of music dealers nationwide. The popular CVP and CLP models continue to lead the digital piano market with unmatched quality, ease of use and versatility.

The newest addition to Yamaha's line of organs, the Electone AR80 features ease of operation and an incredible selection of voices and sounds that make it the ideal instrument for organ enthusiasts.

In addition to the display of exciting new products, Yamaha demonstrated its solid commitment to retail support programs by showcasing an innovative multimedia computer merchandising system. This system, complete with CD-ROM Interactive Product Tours, was designed in conjunction with MIDItainment, Inc. exclusively for Clavinova digital pianos.

The Clavinova Festival Program display was another big hit with dealers attending the show. Festival Coordinator Lori Frazer was enthusiastic in her approach to educating dealers about the various Festival formats and in answering retailer questions. The display also featured promotional Festival items and samples, including banners, T-shirts, sample trophies, pens and mugs that are available to dealers who will be hosting their own Festival.

Allen Lyle plays his original composition, "Watch Out World," during the Young Composers in Concert performance. Allen enjoys playing the Electone because it allows him to experiment with different rhythms and sounds.

Varon summed up the Yamaha experience at NAMM saying, "I don't have anything but positive things to say about working with Yamaha."
