Dynamic New Clavinova CLP800 Series Enhances Yamaha's Leading Line

Yamaha fortifies its stature as the leader in digital pianos by introducing the new Clavinova CLP800 series digital pianos - CLP880 / 880M / 860 / 860M / 840 / 820 / 810. The popular, highly-acclaimed Clavinova line - a four-time winner of Musical Merchandise Review (MMR) magazine's Dealers' Choice Award - is expected to win new fans with its authentic piano tone, realistic piano touch and competitive price points to fit any budget.

The unmatched versatility and attractive good looks of the new CLP800 series will make it the piano of choice for educators, home enthusiasts, event planners and professional musicians. True to Yamaha's 110-year commitment to quality and innovation, the new CLPs feature several enhancements developed to satisfy market demand.

"Thanks to the strong loyalty and support of our dealers, Yamaha achieved record Clavinova sales last year, and easily maintained its number one place in the market," says Ray Reuter, Yamaha piano marketing manager. "This year's Clavinova line is our best ever, and once again serves to raise the industry benchmarks for style and performance."

A multitude of Clavinova attributes clearly distinguish it from other digital pianos. In the CLP800 series, Yamaha establishes a new standard in totally lifelike keyboards by using actual weights and mechanical linkages - not springs or oil dampers - to create a feel that's as close as possible to the real thing. The CLP820 and CLP810 feature the innovative Hammer Effect (HE) which simulates the feel of an acoustic piano. The other five models go even further, offering a Graded Hammer Effect (GH) which varies the weighted feel of the key action from heavier to lighter as players move from the lower to the higher keyboard registers.

Even more impressive, the CLP880 / 880M and CLP860 / 860M are the first Clavinovas to mirror the dynamic levels and tone qualities that lend passion and expression to piano music. Dynamic Stereo Sampling AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) tone generation builds upon the industry standard by using four CD quality samples - fortissimo, forte, mezzo forte and damped - which allow for dynamic selection according to personal keyboard touch. Volume and timbre change as you play harder or softer, just like on an acoustic piano.

Finally, these new CLP800s are sure to turn heads - as well as ears! The handsome mahogany grain finish on the CLP880M and CLP860M - and the elegant dark rosewood cabinet on the other five models - will appeal to players seeking a stylish complement for diverse tastes in decor and furnishings.
