| Spring Clavinova Clinic Heats Up Brook Mays | ||
| The heat was on this past spring at Brook Mays Piano Max of Houston, TX,
where more than 40 music educators participated in an intense pair of clinics aimed at
maximizing instructional use of the Yamaha Clavinova digital piano. Conducted by Joy
Carden, educational consultant for Yamaha Corporation of America, the individual clinics
took place in early March and were attended by private studio teachers, school music
educators and Brook Mays Lessons Plus teaching staff. Clavinova CVP59, 69 and 79 models
were used for the clinics.
"Forward-thinking music educators realize the value of technology in planning instructional programs," said Carden. "The Clavinova perfectly meets this need, and the Yamaha-sponsored clinics provide valuable information about new teaching resources, offering teachers the opportunity to network and expand their teaching strategies." Carden's new instructional materials, including the Carden Keyboard Ensemble Series, designed for group instruction, were introduced during the clinic. Teachers also participated in a lively read-through of new keyboard literature included in the Carden Keyboard Ensemble Library.
Plans are under way for a fall Keyboard Ensemble Concert in which Houston-area teachers and students will perform ensemble music on 16 Clavinova digital pianos. Carden is also involved in the organization of four summer seminars taking place at California State University Long Beach, the University of Houston, University of South Carolina, Columbia, and Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Stay tuned for more news on these seminars. |
