Interactive CD-ROM Brings Home Virtual Clavinovas Continuing its tradition of being as innovative and creative in its marketing campaigns as in its product development, Yamaha created a new cutting-edge, in-store CD-ROM featuring the Clavinova CLP digital piano line. This latest interactive product tour, introduced at Winter NAMM 1999, is the companion tool to the Clavinova CVP line CD-ROM. This new CD-ROM was developed for Yamaha by MIDItainment, the firm that also produced the CVP and Yamaha piano CD-ROMs.
"The goal is to provide a virtual product at home. We've created a new interface design that makes the tour even more intuitive and user friendly," says Tom Folenta, president of MIDItainment. Like its predecessors, the CLP CD-ROM was created to appeal to consumers who own a computer, and want - even expect - the latest technology. It allows these customers to fully research their purchase at their leisure - and have fun while doing it. This creative tool is also a terrific source of product knowledge for the Yamaha sales staff. By providing sales people with powerful information, Yamaha is helping build more confidence, translating to an ability to close more sales. The CD-ROM format allows the interested consumer to explore every aspect
of the Clavinova from the comfort of their home. The interactive tour
takes the viewer on a journey that encompasses different sections - Models,
Features, Software and XG Tone Generator Technology. A click on Models
introduces the CLP model line, while the Features icon opens up to a "live"
control panel, with its LCD screen, song/mixer function and style and
auto accompaniment options. Each feature has a hands-on demonstration
that permits the user to participate and fully experience the Clavinova's
unique qualities. The Software button opens to an interactive "something
for everyone" area that illustrates a variety of musical software available
to expand the Clavinova's musical horizons, with performances by a number
of Yamaha specialists. For the more technologically inclined the XG tone
generator is fully explained by entering that area of the tour. "It's
a great idea to be innovative when presenting technology and that's what
Yamaha is accomplishing with these CD-ROMs," adds Folenta. Key Action Home - Yamaha
