"In order to compete with the sophisticated sounds that students are accustomed to hearing on TV, at the movies, on video, we need to embrace technology every chance we get. Technology is a standard - a daily part of every student's world. That's why lessons need to include more than just piano. Students need the experience of working with multiple sounds. They need to experience the pleasure of playing along with accompaniment software. With increasing competition for students' attention - increased academic and sports demands, television, computer games and other high-tech toys, it is extremely important to evaluate the relevancy of a student's learning environment. It's imperative that we adapt music instruction to the needs and interests of students."

- Jim Foster "Father Festival," Foster Family Music, Moline, IL
