Elementary School Holds Fund-Raiser for New Clavinova Parshall Elementary School in Parshall, ND sponsored fund-raisers over the last several months to raise money to purchase a new Yamaha Clavinova CVP94 digital piano. The elementary school was moving its music room and found that their old piano wasn't stable and needed to be replaced. Virginia Bolin, Parshall Elementary School's music teacher, purchased a CVP94 from Jacobsen's Music in Minot, ND because of its ability to do more than a traditional acoustic piano. "The children love the various sounds, beats, and extras that the CVP94 includes," says Bolin. "One of the benefits of the CVP94 is its PC interface which allows students to use technology to enhance their musical capabilities." The 100 built-in rhythm styles also makes it easier for Bolin to adapt lessons for the different class levels. However, according to Bolin, the most important reason she chose the CVP94 was because of the Clavinova's durability. The Clavinova can be moved around easily, making it priceless in the elementary school. More than a quarter of the money was raised through a school rummage sale, a Beanie Baby auction, and a program called "Pennies for the Piano" where jugs were placed in every classroom and the children would bring in coins daily to fill them. The remainder of the money was raised through donations and various other community fund-raising events. "The success of the fund- raisers was tremendous," says Barb Sandstrom,
the school's principal. "Music education is important to all these children
and the Yamaha CVP94 digital piano was something we needed to enhance
our students education."
