Hal Cowen of Jenkins Music hosted two Clavinova Festivals in 1997. The fall Festival took place entirely in their new piano superstore, Rosana Square, with an incredible 280 people participating. "Weve always had large turnouts at our Festivals. Every year we try to improve on them, to be more accommodating," said Kathy Ganaden. One way Jenkins achieves this is by implementing a loaner program; teachers with 15 or more students registered in the Clavinova Festival are loaned a Clavinova for six to eight weeks leading up to the Festival. "Overall it was an unbelievable musical experience. The participants loved it," commented Hal. Travis Mitchell of
Keith Jorgensens presents three-year old Maurissa Weight who performed "Singing
in the Rain" the first place award for her division. Jorgensens had 120 people taking part in their Clavinova Festival, with the first place winners from each division performing at the play-offs at the Mt. View High School auditorium. Attendees enjoyed a special treat when contemporary pianist, recording artist and Emmy Award winning composer, Kurt Bestor encouraged the participants and congratulated them on their performances before playing one of his own compositions. Bestors original scores have been featured on dozens of films and television themes, as well as for the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary.

Jensens hosted its very
first Clavinova Festival last Fall, drawing a tremendous turnout of 98 participants.
Performers of all ages presented their favorite musical works in a wide variety of styles
using the Clavinova digital piano. "There are many talented keyboard players of all
ages and levels in our area," commented Alan Mueggenborg, Keyboard Sales
Representative from Jensens."We feel it is important that these musicians be
involved in this unique music festival and be given the opportunity to enrich their lives
through music participation." The Festival included several door prizes, a free
concert open to the community and a drawing for a free Clavinova CLP311, which went to
Kristin McCart of Pond Creek.
Since 1990 the Festivals have grown to over 75
dealers across the country hosting these unique events, according to Lori Frazer,
coordinator of the Clavinova Festivals. Lori can be reached at 1-888-9YAMAHA. The Festival
features the versatile Clavinova CVP series and showcases its student-friendly functions.
The availability of software and styles make the CVP series a fun and obvious choice for
piano teachers and students alike. In addition, the Festivals give participants an
opportunity to meet people in the community who share their interest in music, and hear
the way others are enjoying their Clavinova digital pianos. Doug and Barbara Lauts of Lauts |
