It's a New Year but the Resolution is the Same

w.GIF (1428 bytes)ith the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve, people look back at their achievements during the past year and set resolutions for the new one --Yamaha is certainly no different. We look back at 1997 with much pride. We have seen Yamaha’s popularity soar as we continued to meet customer and dealer needs for new state-of-the-art instruments.

Yamaha remains the industry leader with its introduction of the Clavinova CVP90 series. In addition to the tremendous reception by consumers and dealers alike, the Clavinova digital piano was the recipient of the Musical Merchandise Review (MMR) magazine’s Dealers’ Choice Award, for the third consecutive year. We are especially proud of this achievement because this award represents the voice of those on the front line with the customers -- our Yamaha retailers. The new CVP series was voted "1997 Product of the Year" in the publication’s annual poll of music dealers nationwide. The Award will be presented at Winter NAMM 1998.

Since its unveiling last summer, Yamaha has enjoyed record sales of the CVP98, CVP96, CVP94 and CVP92 digital pianos. The success of these new models is a direct result of their expanded and versatile performance capabilities, including unsurpassed ease of use, enhanced cabinets, added features and attractive pricing. The Clavinova’s user-friendly features and versatility illustrate why they remain the digital piano of choice of consumers.

In this issue we will take a look at several schools benefiting from recent Clavinova installations, to the thrill of students and teachers alike. We are especially proud of our dealers who are placing state-of-the-art Clavinovas in middle and high schools, thereby helping children get involved in music at an earlier age. Students at Battle Creek High School in Battle Creek, MI, recently replaced their old pianos with 24 CLP411’s, complete with DOU10’s and a CVP69 teacher’s unit provided by Snyder’s Keyboard World in Grand Rapids, MI. Thanks to an idea from Contois Music in Essex Junction, VT, Frederick H. Tuttle Middle School and South Burlington High School in South Burlington, VT, each received a CVP69 for use in the schools’ libraries of all places -- certainly a testament to the instrument’s versatility.

Clavinova digital pianos are also taking center stage in various performances. Also, the GT1 GranTouch digital grand and GT10 digital upright pianos make their theatrical debut with Reprise!, a new theater company in Los Angeles, offering "Broadway’s Best in Concert" performed by Hollywood’s top entertainers.

Last fall also featured many prominent and highly successful Clavinova Festivals. We’ll take you to a piano competition held at Trombino’s Music Center in Pittsburgh, PA, where participants perform on acoustic pianos but gravitate to the Clavinovas on the showroom floor for practice.

This year Yamaha introduces the new AR80 ElectoneÆ organ at the 1998 Winter NAMM Show. Ease of operation and an incredible selection of voices make the AR80 the ideal instrument for organ aficionados, church musicians, and keyboard enthusiasts.cvp96.GIF (5731 bytes)

We are proud to look back on our achievements over the past year but our work is far from done. We continue to push the limits and anticipate another successful year ahead of us. Our charge is to expose even more musicians and students to the remarkable versatility and advanced performance features of Yamaha Clavinova digital pianos while continuing to offer high-quality, user-friendly instruments that meet the needs of performers at any level. Now, as we begin a new year, we make our annual resolution to continue our commitment to quality and excellence.

We look forward to sharing another exciting year with you. green.GIF (51 bytes)
