Training Teachers for the Future
(continued from page 8)

Music teachers take part in a hands-on session during the seminar at the University of Denver.

Teachers were impressed with the concept of utilizing the Clavinova digital piano and the MLC-100 console to give each of their students individual attention while working in a group setting. “There are so many more options because of Clavinova digital pianos,” says Carden. “As a supporter of music and arts education, Yamaha provides outstanding training in the area of digital music.”

Teachers participating in the keyboard ensemble session had their own homework to do. Each was required to create an original orchestral arrangement with nationally known educator and composer, Susan Ogilvy. Ogilvy’s classes focused on the selection of sounds and interpretation, as well as the exciting benefits of the keyboard ensemble as a new performance medium.

“The teachers were so excited because most have never recorded before,” says Ogilvy. “In turn, they’ll bring this excitement back to their students.”
