The Clavinova Travels the Road to Shalom
After years of practice, her hard work has finally paid off. The result is The Road to Shalom, a religiously inspired CD of instrumental music which Pierce recorded entirely on the Clavinova. The CD contains contemporary as well as traditional Christian music, utilizing the Clavinovas full range of instrument and orchestral sounds. Pierce chose to record her CD on the Clavinova for its voicing and its ability to layer several instrumental performances over the initial keyboard performance. She perfected the piano voice orchestration and then mixed the peaceful sounds of the English and French horns, followed by strings, orchestra, and finally the xylophone and sax. As she built up the music, instrument by instrument, Pierce continuously played back each song from the disk until she had what she liked. She then sent it to Herald House Publishing in Independence, MO, where she was featured as the main selection of the month in September.
A pianist at heart, Pierce is no stranger to the Clavinova. As an elementary school music teacher, she uses the CVP35 as accompaniment to her choral and strings students. She also plays on the Clavinova CVP59 at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she is music director, pianist, and organist. At home, Pierce plays her own CVP59 in the evenings to her children, to help them fall asleep. After theyve gone to bed, she slips on the headphones and plays into the night. The love for music, and the Clavinova, runs in the family. Still loving
the music at age 72, Pierces father uses the guide lamps on his
CVP96
to play along with Frank Sinatras This Will Be Our Shining
Hour.
