Yamaha Helps Put Music
Education In National Spotlight

amaha Corporation of America recently teamed up with a coalition of music organizations to further the cause of music education — spotlighting the "Best 100 Communities for Music Education in America," which were determined in a recently conducted national survey. In addition, Yamaha also made a sizable donation to a very worthy program that encourages music education in our nation's public schools.

The Piano Division was one of three Yamaha music product divisions making the recent donation to the VH1 Save the Music Foundation. The Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of education in America's public schools by restoring music programs in cities across the country, and by raising public awareness about the importance of music participation for our nation's youth. Yamaha committed to provide more than $150,000 worth of musical instruments, including Clavinova digital pianos, as part of its ongoing support for the program. This special presentation was broadcast live on NBC's Today Show.

"Through numerous scientific studies, we know about the benefits active music making can have on children," says Yamaha Senior Vice President Terry Lewis. "And, we firmly believe that all children should have access to music education in their schools, regardless of economic status. That is why we have been supporters of the VH1 Save the Music Program and will continue to support efforts to further its mission."
